REVISED:HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF 20 YEARS LATER

I have to apologize for the mistake I made in the title and my comment at the end.  Thanks to one of the readers, it was not XMRV they found back in 1990 but another retrovirus HTLV which causes an unusual form of Leukemia in Asia.

The point of the video is to show that history is repeating itself 20 years later with XMRV.  The government is not taking this seriously enough.

This was just posted on the weekend April 2nd, 2011 on ProHealth.com – pointing out that the XMRV controversy is history repeating itself.

“Dr. Elaine De Freitas’ study [in 1990, reporting evidence of a new virus in ME/CFS patients attacking the immune system that may lie dormant for years] was ignored by the government, accusing her of lab mouse contamination.”

Here are links to some articles from 1990 and 1991 respectively:

Seattle Times : Yuppie Flu May Be Caused By Virus — Research Suggests It May Be Related to Aids Virus

pnas.org : Retroviral sequences related to human T-lymphotropic virus type II in patients with chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome

Again, I do apologize for the mistake,  and thank you Martin Shaloe for catching it so fast.

Have a Great Day!!

Dr De Freitas did not find evidence of XMRV, but of a totally different family of retroviruses related to HTLV-II. No other group could ever replicate this finding, including the WPI. Here is a link to the study.
